Our Story

“In April of 1988, an eleven year old girl underwent surgery for a brain tumor. It was an emergency surgery that lasted 22 hours. The little girl’s dream was to own a horse. After the surgery, the parents bought the first horse they found. That was the beginning of the Heart of Texas Therapeutic Riding Center. My name is Shirley Wills and that eleven year old girl was my daughter, Teri. “

We opened our therapeutic riding center just outside Waco, Texas, in order to serve those with special needs in the Central Texas region. Our hope is that therapeutic riding and the other services we offer will positively impact your family like it has ours.
