In April of 1988, an eleven year old girl underwent surgery for a brain tumor. It was an emergency surgery that lasted 22 hours. The little girl’s dream was to own a horse. After the surgery, the parents bought the first horse they found.
That was the beginning of the Heart of Texas Therapeutic Riding Center. My name is Shirley Wills and that eleven year old girl was my daughter, Teri.
For the whole story come by, I would love to share it with you.
At HOTTRC We have a lift system that allows us to move our riders smoothly and efficiently on and off their horse. The lift helps improve the safety of mounting and dismounting our riders. It has allowed us to expand our ridership, providing lessons to riders with mobility issues who without a lift may not have been able to experience equine therapy.
If you have a heart for people with special needs, or just for people in general, there are several ways you can help! We are in constant need of support to continue to help those with special needs. Time, energy, resources, and finances are always appreciated at HOTTRC! No donation is too small and no amount of time is too little to impact a life.
